Katni and Maihar areas in Madhya Pradesh are surrounded by lime kilns. These lime kilns release all kinds of particulate matter, NOx and other polluting particles in the atmosphere. This has led to a serious environment hazard in these areas. 

The project has been undertaken with the following objectives 

• Assess  the impact of pollution caused due to lime kilns on the local population, cattle, flora & fauna etc.

• Suggest corrective measures for minimizing the effects of pollution.
