Around 30% of the total geographical area of Madhya Pradesh is covered by forest, which forms the main source of lively hood for the tribal population of the state. Apart from wood these forests are a source of rare herbs , fruits , roots , bark etc. which have been traditionally been used by the population for various uses. 

This project involves as study of the various non timber forest produce available in Madhya Pradesh with regard to the following:

• Availability of Various NTFPs in Madhya Pradesh

• Processing Technologies Available

• Problems & Prospects in collection and Processing

• Marketing Linkages

• New Technologies needed to be developed

• Prospects of Cultivation of Selected NTFPs

• Identification of Possible Projects and their Project Profiles
